Internationally recognised Master Percussionist, "Obikaye" has just released his first solo CD, "Jaguar's Masquerade"
This release debuts on his own label "GAHU Productions". An Ethnic & Jazz percussionist, Obikaye has performed various venues and styles, specialising in dance driven and improvisational rhythm. He explores every voice the drum has to offer & constantly strives to expand each possibility. His style speaks to that "visceral, hunter / warrior chase the mammoths with your spear kind of intutive thing, but girls dig it too........", states one fan. Others say he brings a new sophistication & an understanding of many musical styles, as well as creating some new styles. His training has introduced him to many forms of rhythmic emotion, from African "High Life" & Latin Jazz to Middle Eastern dance. He is also well versed in several forms of "sacred drumming" from Sufi to Yoruba.
