Obikaye !
With numerous projects behind & in front of him, Obikaye continues to persue both new projects & studies......
Since youth he has persued a life of "conversing with the drum. he has
{& continues to} studied many forms of Jazz "Hand" percussion as well as ethnic & religious percussion. Here is just a brief overview:
West African "High~life"
Middle Eastern Dance drumming
Latin, African & Arabian Ensemble percussion
Sufi
Bata & Bembe drumming
Salsa, Mambo & Afro~Cuban Jazz & Percussion arrangement.
Other studies include
{ but not limited to } Rhythm Therapy, Poly rhythmic Structure, Community Drumming.

His performance experiences include
Numerous Jazz and world music festivals, Haflis, Wedos, and more. As always, both as a solo performer & as a sideman he continues to stretch the limits of musical genres, & appeals to the many tastes of a diverse audience.
A specialist in "IMPROV" Obikaye is capable of completing any line~up, and rounds a group out both boldly & surprisingly "tastefully". His assertive
(& sometimes Aggressive) style locks in on a groove & takes it right to the heart of his audience, bringing them into the music & inviting a more "involved" feeling.......

As a clinician.....
Obikaye strives to present, in a sharing environment, a new relationship to the world around us, through his relationship with the drum. His drums become fascinating vehicles through which we may visit and understand other cultures, ideas, & even ourselves.
All workshops are tailored to suit the needs of the participants and range in a variety of topics from Jazz Hand percussion, Afro~Cuban & Middle~Eastern ensemble percussion to Rhythm Therapy, Sacred Sound & more. For younger children he has a special "Drums Around The World" presentation, & even special workshops are conducted in "Drumming for Stress & Anger Relief".
